Suspect Steals Rare Coin, Manager Fires Shot

yep

Shooting at a robber running from the store is attempted murder in some states, unless he is armed and a physical threat to people around him.

My friend did jail time for firing his revolver outside his shop in a parking lot with people getting in and out of their cars all around the robbery attempt.

The suspect was unarmed and OUT of the store at the time of the shooting. The law is clear about some of these defence issues and what type of force can be used.

this is why some jewelry stores have to buzz you in and to leave :icon_thumleft:

20 year-old ammo misfires??
I hardly think so. If ammunition is stored and handled properly it will last decades, if not centuries. I think it's more likely her gun was not cleaned properly and the firing pin didn't hit the cap hard enough. A gun is like a car's engine; you can't just let it sit for ten years and expect it to work right.

My first thought was I can't believe they didn't arrest her on the spot. But I also can't say as I blame her!

HI, no-one seems to address the "citizen's arrest " factor of a fleeing felon., which can mitigate the action quite a bit, since a citizen had the same right to apprehend as a Police officer, but without the legal protection of the community.

As for her shooting ability, it certainly isn't much worse than what I have seen in many police departments. Frankly lousy. Like Jeffro's. snicker.

Apprehend, yes, but at what cost to the safety of the public. It has different legal terminoligy in different cities and states.

I know victums that did jail time for excessive force.

A personal protection course might help teach people how to protect themself while doing it safely and legally.

Absolutely no contest there seamuss. But I seldom see where the police act with a safety factor for the public. If so, there would never be such a thing as a hi speed chase. The vehicle can easily be identifed and the driver picked up later unless the driver was comepletely out of control.

While I was in the Border Patrol, I was taught that I should only use my firearm in my self defense, that of a fellow officer, or for an "INNOCENT" third party. In effect, I was not allowed to interfere or take sides in gang fights.

The police seem to believe they have a license to shoot people in the back while their running away.

Then there are laws putting us in jail if we do that.

But then again, I'd be the type to give chase myself if it were my property being stolen also.

wow!!! That was a huge coin! That sucks that someone stole that! I would feel so guilty if I ever stole anything.
