Agreeing... it is the small forked brass tongue from a Colonial-era shoebuckle. (The term "Georgian" for that specific type of shoebuckles refers to the period from 1714 to 1830, covering the reign of King George I through King George IV -- but mostly means the 1700s.) The front and back photos below show where your find fit on the Georgian shoebuckle.
