Size and type of metal? Anything on the reverse?

There's nothing on the other side. Made of tin I guess and it's 2 inch from tip to tip.

perhaps a simple stamped pendant blank...ready for engraving...they still make em in tons of configurations...a simple guess

As bigfoot1 mentioned, maybe a pendant blank or possibly a tag for some sort of flowering plant or shrubbery.

Quite often tags like that were used to hold a hotel room key - the nasty shape discouraged people from walking off with the key after leaving the hotel. Usually, though, they had the name of the hotel and the room number stamped into it. Perhaps this one had the information printed on it? How big is it? The type of tags I'm talking about were 1½ - 2".
