Another creek find from Missouri.

I had many good creeks and streams that I walked in central Missouri for over 20 years that were stone bottom, one of the streams that was spring fed evidently had camp sites for hundreds if not thousands of years by the amount and quality of artifacts my hunting partner and I found over the years. Heavy rains would cause the sides to crumble and fall in, we believe that is why it was constantly renourshied with artifacts. The creek was from 4 to 20 foot wide and 4 to 10 foot deep in different places depending on the terrain.

We tried to find the camp sites but it was just too heavy in brush, poison ivy and poison oak. We had permission to hunt the property so we hunted the stream instead.

This tallied pendant came from that creek.

Note, gorget does not qualify for banner, I found it years before joining TreasureNet.

I have many streams around here, how does one go about hunting a stream? just wade and look?

Wow, that's just downright incredible. Although I'd consider it a gorget, who the hell really cares?! Thanks for sharing such a great find with us. I'd love to see what else y'all found in that creek through the years. I can't help but wonder, judging from the shape and thickness that it may have salvaged from a broken bannerstone.

Thamks, appreciate it.

Gorget works better than pendent. Found it in the mid 90s, left Missouri in 2001. I would love to know it's story and the story of the one who made it, I bet it would be interesting.

Super find.Congrats :icon_thumright:

Nice find that’s one of the coolest looking ones Iv seen , definitely a bucket list item for me anyways

Sweet find...nominated for banner!

Thanks but it is not eligible for banner, I found it years before I joined TreasureNet.

Awesome find! That would be banner worthy if you found it recently.

It almost looks like a salvaged wing butterfly banner stone. Probably not since it looks on purpose made, but maybe an ancient example of copying something they saw?

I like that pendant\gorget. I've never seen one quite like it with the shape and tally marks. I have a pipe with tally marks all over it. What was the purpose of tally marks or do we know? Really nice find!

That's a killer find! Congrats!

Per Jeff G!!! if i found anything that cool i would faint then wake up and faint again lol.

I agree that it looks like a salvaged winged banner. Nice piece. Gary

Wow that is awesome! I hunt Missouri creeks, I would love to find something like that.. What county did you find that in?

Callaway.
