I've hunted longer for less. That's a good find. You should display it proudly.

I too have hunted longer for less. Nice find.

A day in the field finding little is still always a good time.

What is the material?

1 is better than 0, definitely hunter longer for less.

yep, like Uniface says - Onondaga Chert. I love my field finds, but I am envious of you guys who live where the colorful cherts are more common. Here in CNY we get light gray, medium gray, dark gray, sometimes black (non-Onondaga?), and if we're really lucky, brown-and-gray mottled. Saw an old timer's collection of hundreds and hundreds of points, and he had maybe only a couple that were not the Gray Stuff.

Not sure if this one I found is the same material or not. This is the only point I have of this material and the only one I have of this type of point. NC foothills. Hope it is ok to post it here.
The two pics on the red background is the flipsides

This similar stone was found in MD. It is not mine but was posted a while back by someone else. Some folks on here said it was a natural stone. I don't know, but it sure does fit the mold of the two above, just a different material.

Can anyone tell what material my points is crafted from? The same Onondaga Chert?

I apologize Aurora for downgrading your
"nice ancient find",
"Good find, display it proudly"
"nice find"
to just a "used up stub"
I thought we had something pretty rare since I haven't saw any others like them, but I guess every one else must have a pocket full of used up stubs and know better than to post them.

hey no problem DaveSmith...you can't be overly sensitive and last long on this board. I'm sure you like your stub as much as I like mine. Which is ALOT.

Oh, and also, Our teeny points/stubs aren't especially rare. Collectors call them "bird points". Check out this one I found last year.IMG_0574.webp
