Tenn. Trio at U.S. Cav. Camp: Eagle & Geo. Button,& my 400th CW Relic in 2012!!

Today was the date 12-12-12 and the Tennessee Trio made a 3 hour hunt this morning at an apparent U.S. Cavalry camp that was discovered and scouted by Josh. Josh recovered the relics on the paper plate in the pic while establishing the camp perimeter in 3 short hunts. There was frost on the ground when we drove to the site. Doug recovered a coat size GS eagle button that entitled him to buy lunch (according to Josh). Josh dug a nice little geometrical designed button. Doug recovered a .44 cal. early model Colt Dragoon bullet. They look larger than a new army .44 Colt bullet. There were old buildings there that overlaid the CW site. It was a milestone day for me as I dug my 400th CW relic in 2012. No plates or rare buttons today but fun was had by all. Enjoy the video. Happy Hunting & Happy Holidays from the Trio.

The Tn trio scores again. What a relic machine you guys are. Looks like you all are just scratching the surface with two hunts in. Congrats on the big 400. Nice geometric button that is pretty fancy. Good hunt fellas.

Thanks Richard & thanks for the diary. HH, Q.

Congratulations all the way around.

Quindy,
Congrats on relic #400!!! I think #401 may have been doing the filming. LOL
Some nice lead there Guys. Way to go. I see you have another "U"nion horseshoe in the first photo upside-down.
Thanks for the great videos you have been taking. We appreciate it. A few more acting lessons and Dman and Josh will be ready for a reality show.
Looking forward to the next hunt.

You guys continue to find some great sites and relics... Congrats :icon_thumright:

Nice day guys , your on a roll keep it up.

Love the lead

That looks like a fun hunt! The piece to the left of the horseshoe in the photo looks like a Civil War era butter knife/eating utensil. I have only dug one complete one, and that was in a camp in West Virginia back in the 1990s. Yours will probably have a single hole on the handle side, a one-piece iron ferrule cast into the knife toward the short end (that's the most identifiable part--see the Right Hand side in the photo below), and it looks like the blade end of the one you dug is broken off. At any rate, I am certain that they are period CW finds, and here is what a complete one looks like.
