I am looking for a detector to keep in my car for on the spot or short spare time hunts. I am looking for something simple and quick to use as my child will use it from time to time also. I also do not want to keep my Whites V3i in my car all the time. I have the opportunity to buy and X2 in like new condition with the original coil, coil covers, and the original 7 inch coil and the 9 inch coil. I also can buy an Bandido II, that comes with an 8X9 and the 10.5 inch coil - I do not beleive it comes with the original donut coil. Leaving price out of your consideration, I would appreciate suggestions as to which detector you all think is the better of the two and why? I am mainly going to hunt local city parks for coins and jewelry. Most of these hunts will be short - half hour to an hour for when I have some time to kill or if I see park when I am out and about that I want to investigate for future hunting. I will do no relic hunting or beach hunting with the detector. Just simple on the spot hunts. The Troy is immaculate and the Tesoro looks used but not abused. Both have original manuals. Thank you.

I would have to go with the X2. its a great grab and go machine, easy for kids to use and can swing all day. The 7" coil is killer and its also made by Tesoro to Troy's specs. I'm still kicking myself for selling mine. Let me know if you go with the Bandido, i'll take the X2 :D

I would look into the cibola . Great grab and go machine and it goes deep.

Desert_Rat is giving you good info . I would go with the Troy X-2 . As a matter of fact I did , I bought one last year with the 7" coil , I'm never going to get rid of it . Those 9" coils are real hard to get and highly desired .

Thanks everyone for your replies. The Troy Shadow X2 is on its way. It is truly in pristine condition. It has the 7 and 9 inch coils, each with their own lower rods and coil covers, the original manual, a brand new compact carry bag, a Superphone headset, new batteries, and a couple of treasure bags. The control box unit itself has not a scratch on it and the foam grip handle truly looks brand new. The two coils and the Shadow control box both look like they were never used. And, my friend may even throw in an electronic pinpointer. All shipped to my door for a more than fair price. Because of holiday I will probably have it a week from this coming Monday. Should be fun. I last used an X2 about 9 or 10 years ago, and I clearly remember the first outing. I found over 100 coins with it! It was a unit that Troy kindly arranged for me to test. It will be intersting to use one again. Since then I have used nothing but metered units for my coin hunting. But, it should not be hard to adapt to since my Gold Bug 2 and my Minelab 4000 do not have meters. I am looking forward to being able to grab it from behind the drivers seat and be hunting in minutes. Will come in handy when I see a spot that I want to check and I do not have a lot of time to scout it out. Or, even better, when my wife wants to go to a fabric or quilt shop, I will go out and look for a local park! After I scout an area with the Shadow, I will come back with my Whites V3i, or who knows, after a while the Shadow may become my main detector! Anyway, I will keep you all posted. Thanks again and everyone have a great and save Memorial Day. Happy Hunting!
