Detector(s) used
Garrett AT Pro,Tesoro Compadre
I just bought a compadre a couple weeks ago,I have'nt had a chance to use it yet due to crappy weather(snow!!!). I will be taking it down to El Salvador in central america next week. I know of a few old home sites near where we are staying. I just wonder how this thing will do in hard clay like soil? I bought a hammer size pick axe at harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/garden-pick-tiller-65398.html to aid with recovery in hard dirt. Any one else use there compadre in hard soil and how did it perform? I'm liking this compadre already its soooo light weight!!! ;D ;D ;D Thanks

My son hunts with one of these it does extremmley well in packed red clay on coins and jewelry you will love this detector!!!

My trip to El Salvador was a sucess metal detecting :headbang: A local guy from down the road led me to spot where he had found a old silver coin years ago.He marked the exact location and within 2 hours I recovered 6 spanish carolus silver coins and 3 spanish silver cobs ;D My heart almost stopped a few times recovering these lol Look at the dates! :o I will be taking my metal detector next time I go for sure!

Yes these were all found on my trip within a 2 hour period, but with some help from a guy (mario) who found one laying on the ground after the soil was turned for farming years before. He marked the area where his was found and led to the spot,I offered mario and the 2 other guys who came along for protection some of the treasure but they were more interested in selling them so I told them I'll bring them back to the US to sell, since there are more collectors here,I'm going to get a fair value on them and pay the guys what there worth and keep them as they mean alot to me.It was flat farm ground and no houses in site just open field. All these were found within a 20ft radius area,I truly believe it was a buried cache and was spead out over the years of farming. I always see awesome old finds by others and was starting to think I would never find anything really old,but that all changed.
