Texas, Kentucky road trip. Best day since the 70's

Let me apologize but no pictures. I took vacation and traveled with my bride while she worked as a soldier. We went to Houston for 3 days and Louisville for 2. After listening to your suggestions I tried Memorial Park in Houston but was asked to leave 15 minutes after I started because of the antiquity act. The bell hop at the motel suggested detecting around Waugh Heights. I detected at only 1 park and I found my first Indian (1879) ever, 1 buffalo, 3 barbers (1901, 1902, 1903), 2 mercs and a 1912 Belgium penny that is maybe 10% smaller than our dime and 22 wheaties. I also found 9 slugs from several different caliber pistols. I hated to leave but off to KY. Saturday was the best day since 1973/74. At a school that I had detected last year I found 3 mercs, 1 silver quarter, 2 silver rings and 26 wheaties. Sunday was short and I found 5 more wheaties along with 4 more pistol slugs. I purchased my se last year in May and stopped using it in Sept. I found 22 or 23 silvers and a little over 100 wheaties in 08. I wasn't frustrated but after reading all your helpful hints I new I could do better so I decided to review hundreds and hundreds of your comments last winter and listen to you guys. Last year I wouldn't dig the iffy signals. I usually used digital and only dug the true pure coin readings. What a mistake. I dug the Indian, buffalo and barber in the same hole. I never would have dug that plug last year. I have dug over 25 coins this year that were deeper than anything I dug all last year. Thank you guys for all your time and expertise on this site. I can't wait for WI frozen tundra to thaw out. PJ

Sounds like a cheap detecting holiday, I love it when my company sends me on business trips. Get paid extra to go to new places and detect, LOL. Those iffy signals can pay off. HH, Mike

I'm new here. Been hunting for many many years, but everyday one or the other of this bunch of fine fellas and gals gives me a hint, or a headsup.
This is THE BEST SITE, and with a great group of fellow THers, to boot. Can't beat that.
