i saw that several of you live in Texas, and i thought i'd mention a possible local tip to you, as i read a lot old books mostly researching old shipwrecks, i vaguely remember coming across a story about a small island just off the coast of Texas that had a large hotel and several small cottages on it. well long story short a hurricane came and literally obliterated the island, no trace of the island or the buildings remained, about 300 people were on the island when the storm hit if i remember correctly there were only a few survivors who had left just before the storm. i believe this happened around the 1920's, with a little research there may be something worth looking for in your area. good luck.
P.S. let me know if any of you have ever heard of this story,as i can't remember where i read it.
