the title says it all.. I was thinking about my addiction this morning, and somehow a thought popped into my mind. Thank god they dont have canadian half dollars. Wouldnt that rain on your silver searching parade? I would be right in the middle of my silver happy dance/chant/celebration hoopla (you know the dance you do when you open a roll and see silver inside.), just to realize.... Oh shucks, this aint no freakin silver, this is just a canadian. That would have a negative impact on me, leaving me lower than I was before I found the "silver" which wouldnt be good.

Chris.
By the way, I dont know that there arent canadian half dollars, I just know I have never seen one, or heard of it on this forum, which leads me to believe they dont exist...

The Canadian dimes frustrated me to no end when I first started CRH. After a time, you can spot the difference immediately as the reeding is different as well as the color.

If I am not mistaken there is a Canadian 50 cent piece. The coins issued from prior to 1968 are silver. I think there have been folks on this forum that have found them searching rolls.

Correct, they are slightly smaller in diameter.

Yes there are Canuck halves... I have about $40.00 in our silver halves.. And we used silver until 1968... 4 years after the US dropped it.

The only thing is... they are 80% silver... not 90% as in the US.

And if you do find a Canuck half, and do not want it, let me know... I will be most happy to take it off your hands. ;D

Gotcha, I knew I should have taken the 20 seconds to research info like that before posting such a ignorant statement like that. So, lets modify... How about, thank goodness the canadian halves are a bit smaller in diameter so we dont have to be let down while finding them in U.S. half rolls... I guess we still have the evil trickery of childish peoples, the ones who get off on painting rims silver, and things like that... lol.

Well I have a story for you.

First here in Detroit I have found a few and don't mind them at all. got a hand-full of silver Canadian Halves from the 50's.

One time I picked up a bag of Halves from one of my honey holes. This particular bank only fills their bags to $500. When I got home and searched it I ended up with over 200 $2 "toonies". They are pretty much the same size as our 50 cent pieces. the machine that I got these off of counts the $2 Canadian coins as US Halves.

Was I dissapointed with realizing a 400% profit? Hell no. ;D

i have found 1 canadian silver in the US and was happy... it was silver!

Canadian large pennies are the same size as American halves, but aren't worth even 50 cents.

Got two of 'em yesterday.
