I had jury duty today and they released us around noon so I headed back to the park that I found a ring last week. After about 30 minutes I found another ring in the same general area, see photos below. It's a leaf ring, not sure what it's made of, it rang up in the silver range. It says something inside but I will need to clean it up to make it out. This is an area that has lots of trash but old trash, many old style pull tabs. Also, I dug up a mason jar that is still sealed, with what I don't know. I'm afraid to open it.
Thank you Jury Duty.

Get that puppy cleaned up (the ring ) and let us know what it says inside !

It looks like cinnamon sticks in the jar but not sire about the green stuff. If the lid is still intact and shows suction on the seal, I go for it. Open it outside, the worst thing that can happen is a rancid totally nasty smell. You might find something quite tasty!! Only adding to your treasure list.

Looks like you found an old jar of pickled carrots. I'd keep it just the way you found it. But the ring looks like it might be Silver, post a photo after you clean it up.

Somebody lost a jar of their fruit or something years ago. I don't think I would open it. It's not worth it for the jar. Maybe if it doesn't stink or something keep it as a conversation piece. Weird.

Sorta does look like carrots actually.

Your ring's a little beauty -- hope it cleans up nicely & is silver! :icon_thumright: Andi

Oh, you don't know that it's a jar of "Botulism" at it's best.

I cleaned the ring up and it says "AVON"; it's a Avon Leaf ring. Most likely from the 1970's. Not what I was hoping but it sure what fun digging it up. On the mason jar, I may wait until closer to trash pick up day before I open that sucker. Why it was buried at the park beats me. Maybe some "prepper" from the 70's or 80's buried it as part of their prepper stash when the BIG one hits.

GREAT DIGS!...That Mason jar is wild...i would have lost my mind...Good looks on the ring too!...I found one almost like it, but it was roses instead of leaves

That jar could be worth opening and cleaning out if that green color is the color of the glass and not just the contents. Especially if there's manufacturers' embossing on it, like Ball or Kerr or Atlas or whatever.

I'd agree, looks like some kind of pickled vegetable..... I'd avoid opening it, let alone eating it... Pickled witch fingers (Green Beans) are really good though.. Try them *fresh* sometime when you get a chance sometime... Actually, closer examination it does look like cinnamon and tea leafs.... I think its a Jar of Tea !! Yeah, I'm going to go with the Jar of Tea... Whatever it is *Don't* consume it !!

Keep @ it and HH !!

Any embossing on the jar? I don't think it's that old and not worth opening. That stuff has to STINK!

You're not going to believe this, it's crazy. I dug up another jar. It was only a couple inches deep buried close to a tree There's several parks close to my work and I try to hit them on my lunch hour. This park is only about 10 years old so this can't be too old. I've attached a couple photos, on examination it kinda looks like material, like a sock or glove. The red liquid is kind of creepy. Anyways I'll have to open both of these this weekend near the trash can incase they stink. Believe me, I would rather be digging up silver. I did find about 20 clads and 1 hot wheels car.

Those look like pickled onions to me, can say on the first one.

If you keep digging up food stock you'll never have to go grocery shopping!!

I opened the jars today and I expected to close out this thread with a message about pickled something. Nope, it was crazy weird so I started a new thread just for the jars.
