I went out this morning for a few hours at the property of Deepsecrets and found my first two flat buttons. The smaller flat button is a plain button with "Colour * Treble Gilt" on the back. The larger flat button has no back marks but has a diamond checkered design on the front, with some gold gilt still on it! The butteryfly piece, Deepsecrets said looked to be a suspender clasp, which is a very cool find. :hello2: Thank you again Deepsecrets for letting me and my cousin come out this morning, had a blast, hope to do it again :icon_thumright:

Nice finds. How old do you think they are?

The plain flat button with "treble gilt colour" on it, from what i just looked up, was imported from England from 1790 to 1820 and was used alot by CW soldier's and civilian's. I'm thinking the large button is Revolutionary War era, but im not sure. Any help on trying to date them would be great. Also clueless on the suspender clasp's age. Thank you.
Ryan.

cool suspender clip!

It was fun! Great large dandy button. For a couple first flat buttons, that's a good one to get!

Those were some great finds Ryan, glad to see the detail on the large button - really nice. That suspender clasp is probably mid-1800's, maybe you'll find the mate to that next time you're out here.
