Been so busy it seems that there's no time to post up anything that I do dig. I do get out for a little here and there, and there's always something coming out of the dirt to keep the passion running. I treated myself to a Deus in April, and have gotten out a few times, a different type of machine from the Minelabs but it's interesting to go over the same sites again.

This why I would like to thank Scrappy and his reference to changing the setting from 18 to 8khz. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...-permission-handful-coins-militaria-more.html

So being new to the Deus and will jump down any rabbit hole of information I went out to a bottom feeding site. One where a person has picked it so many times that a piece of brass is a good. So I've been there once or twice with the Deus and picked out a few buttons and bits of brass. Today the site came alive again changing it to 8khz, so either I suck at cleaning place out or this setting works.

Nothing too great except for the killer button, the other ones aren't too shabby either having the shanks still intact. So here is the finds from the picked over 1 acre site, and about a 1 1/2 of time. Fresh out of the dirt as I haven't had time to clean up anything, the dirt was just wiped off.

1812sh RN Military Button, J Manns is the maker. One has to love the look of a find when it first shows its self from the soils, one just has that feeling it's going to be a keeper.

So the nonferrous finds were pretty plentiful, oval umbrella slide, four buttons, part of a pewter spoon handle, little clasp, brass chain master link, newer bullet, toe tap two of the buttons were laying on top, but just under a cob of corn and stalks. It was interesting thing to note that once I picked them up there was iron directly under them. So they might have been masked from previous trips.

The iron-well who doesn't dig iron? Seemed to run into the knife blade section of the site, all different. Complete Oxen shoe, and one hex headed knob which is a first and no idea what it's from.
Thanks for looking, and don't be afraid to try a new setting.

that is a great looking button!

just an observation on your settings:
I think it's great to have a network of Deus users that aren't afraid to use all the potential of that unit, bouncing ideas off one another lets you all in on all the facets of your machine.
I think the same could be said about all brands.
Having said that, a Deus or Minelab probably would have found all or more targets given the same exposure to the site, can't confirm that, but just my thought.
My philosophy to any site; first you get a bunch of the easy targets and a couple of the hard ones, next you more of the easy ones and more hard ones, then you get the last of the easy ones and a few more hard ones, after that, it's only few easy ones and as few hard ones, then it's all hard or really hard to get a keeper out.
The positive thoughts of a new machine keeps that passion flowing, best wishes with your Deus!

You forgot one: Then you get a super stellar signal after you've exhausted the spot and say, "now how in the hell did I miss that?!" Lol

Congratulations on the relic hunt! :occasion14:

I hit the site with the Etrac, then the CTX, then numous times again with the Etrac (CTX died two yrs ago, got it repaired came back broken, sitting in the corner of the garage) At the end I was lucky to recover some sheet brass, so I'm thinking maybe it's the new wand. Then again it could the fact of swinging only a couple of pounds. Either way it produced.

So true Scrappy, I walked onto a site a little over a week ago with the Deus after hitting it with the Minelab hard for two seasons. I dug 10 buttons and 4 half tokens from the small area, I'm still going how the ---- did I miss all those targets?

Congrats on some cool finds! :occasion14:
I use to use 18 but I do all my swinging in 8 now. Turn off ID Norm and the numbers get easier to tell what you might have. Sounds are the key but the visual helps when learning the unit.

Thanks for the reply. I ran 12 today and it produced a great hunt from the same site.

Great news! Keep at it! 12 is easier than 18 but give 8 a try and you might like the numbers even better.
