All Treasure Hunting
Today we decided to grid on from where we left off on the first field we did. Although we had gridded the whole of the Roman area, we believed that the continued dark soil & lots of lead meant there should at least be 1 hammered about.
Less than 1 hour into the hunt our hunch paid off. We dug a whole container of scrap lead today, so that helped boost our battery money fund.

3 Roman Coins
Nice 18th C Pewter Button
Good Tudor Button
Medieval Buckle
Late Medieval Cauldron Foot
8th-9th C Saxon Equal Arm Brooch:icon_thumright:
Henry V Half Groat:hello2: (My first example)
Richard II Penny, York Mint8-)
Tiny Lead Token - As we don't find them this small anywhere else, I'm pretty sure these small lead tokens the size of a Farthing were produced by the Abbey in circa Ed I's reign & circulated as small change with the laypeople.

Awesome finds once again! Those hammies never stop! Congrats

Magnificent. Someday maybe.

Congrats on some real nice coinage. I like that buckle and the Medieval brooch especially

Your post still leave me speechless.. Are there many other guys/gals in your area that detect as hard core as you and Crudad?

Always nice to get a big Hammered! I had to smile a bit about the Saxon brooch. They seem to only come out in half, so you can never see that they have truly equal arms.

I havent gotton hammered in a long time lol. Is it more common to find them cut or whole and in what era was the cutting most common?

More common complete. Lots of cutting in Henry III reign.

Not any I know of that put the hours in that we do, plus I don't know of any that have as much permission either.

Would you someday post pictures of your collections, or point towards a post in which you have? I remember seeing one with all of your gold coins, but would love to see hammered, brooches, etc. The "Cruseum" must be a wonderful sight to behold. As a relative novice and being over here, I just really appreciate that after all of your finds you still take the time to post, inspire, educate, and support. And that your enthusiasm is undimmed. Cheers

Yeah , I concur with Z.K. a glimpse of the "Cruzeum" is in order . Although if most of your hanmered are in albums it might be a trick to photo all that. I think the holed Roman is more interesting than otherwise - really lends a human feel to it !

Those are some incredible finds, congrats.

Unique and Beautiful collection of finds! :icon_thumleft:

Congratulations on the killer hunt! The relics and coins you find are amazing! :notworthy:

Like the new word, I may get a name plate for my spare room. I'll add to end of post.

Your right most coins are in albums & they don't picture well.

Here is most of my collection, but doesn't include most my album coins & some of my best stuff in safes.
