The absolute quickest return I've made.

I was just running errands today and as I was about to open my car door, a nice old lady was trying to get into her door on the next car. She kept getting mixed up and was trying the handle as the driver was trying to unlock her door. She kept trying out of coordination with the driver. So, every time she tried, it was still locked. It was almost comedic to watch! LOL

Anyway, as she was trying I noticed something yellow fall to the ground. One of her rings had slipped off and fell to the ground. Completely unnoticed by her.

Now, I just gotta tell ya, some small part of me was having a very hard time with this! LOL

But, my true personality won out and after she got in the car and closed the door. I picked up the ring and showed it to her. I thought she was going to have a stroke!! :) She thanked me profusely and started looking for her checkbook. I politely refused and wished her a nice day. She told me it was her wedding band and her husband had passed recently.

I mentioned to her that she might consider having it resized or put up in a safe place.

So, now, the next time I'm out in the field and cursing the luck for not EVER finding a ring! LOL I'll have to say, so what? I'd just give it back anyway. LOL

Sorry, no pics.

Awesome timing!! Great job on your part, we all know how badly we want to find treasures, but the converse is we would know how much it hurts to lose one as well. You got to participate in both halves of the equation and helped her avoid the heartache of loss!!! Well done!!

Very nice job. And at least you didn't have to carry it home, clean it up, stare at it etc. It was out of your hands in a jiffy. You made her day and I'm sure it made you feel good as well.

Your karma level went way up

And because you helped her. You will get a bigger ring then the one you gave back.

You could have blamed it on the squirrels. Lol. They snatch gold rings and $100 bills

Some folks may had waited till she left and took the ring home. Considering her husband has passed it brings a lot of meaning to a simple piece of round metal. I couldn't imagine having something that I found and knowing it meant that much to someone.

Heck yeah! Good job.

The kind of gold you just scored is forever yours! Nice save and return! WTG !

The first gold ring I found with my M6 was also a gold band for my neighbor she lost it while raking leaves, also not a keeper.

She was quite lucky you were there !!

You know you wouldn't have been able to live with yourself. Great story and a great act of kindness. :occasion14:

Doing the right thing is always easy to bear. Good job!

Very nice job, Sir. That was without a doubt the right thing to do. I would consider it very wrong to have NOT given it back to her.

Great job whatifind! I bet she has a nice old yard with a few things she dropped in it you could detect too!

Did you tell Fishy and Blingie about your adventure? Knowing them, I would have kept it on the down low, Fishy would have a confused look on his face, and you know how Blingie is...

You have good Karma! The act of kindness is a reward unto itself my friend.

Good work my friend, glad you were there to make her feel good.
