Yellow Jacket lookin Wasper,that's what I call them anyway,started toward the top of the fence pole..notice the Spider web up top,the owner tried to get him.

Insect action is always fun to witness. I see these black wasp around here hunt in wood piles for spiders. They chase out of the spiders from their hiding holes.
 
I don't know if it's the same thing, but we have mud dobber wasps out here, and they will sting and paralyze a spider, then stuff it in the hole in the mud nest, lay an egg and seal off the set up. The egg hatches and feeds on the spider until the baby wasp is big enough to dig out and survive on it's own. Great pictures and awesome focus on the wasp.
