Neat. Can't say I've ever seen one in any size. It appears it grows in both warm and cold regions of the eastern parts of the country, but not very far West. Kind of odd. Until recently there wasn't oak trees around the high plains outside of scrub oak, but I'm seeing them being planted and growing well in my area now and I gather the acorns for the neighborhood squirrels. I'm wondering if these tulip popular's would also grow here. :dontknow:

Not sure, but they are close kin to Aspen, so they might do okay.

Beautiful flower! :icon_thumleft:

Beautiful flower but very intrusive root system on the tree. We had one on the upper side of our yard and the roots traveled over 50 feet to reach and clog the drain field on our septic system. And it takes ten years before the tulip tree first produces blooms. Ours was twelve when we had to have it cut down. I probably won't live long enough to see another one bloom or I would plant it in the back yard where it couldn't get into anything!

Picked up two more this evening.. neither one is as big as the first, but they are neat to float in a bowl of water!

Nice! I was stunned the first time I saw those blooms on a tree! Really pretty.

My wife has some that come up every year Those would be 4 lips lol

I showed my wife these pictures and guess what happened? Yep, a new Tulip poplar planted in the yard. But, this one is well away from any water or septic lines. Now to wait 6 or 7 years for the blooms to begin. The tree was 3 or 4 years old and they usually don't start blooming until about 10. I hope I am still here to see it!
