I was out mushroom hunting today and found a broken bottle, blue in color the bottle was made by Bucyrus Ohio Brewing company nothing else I looked into this and found only it was established in 1890, or 1900's. I also found and old porcelain plate with a English stamping made by John Maddock and Sons I believe they are still in business? no shrooms yet?
I live 20 miles from Bucyrus Ohio Looking for more after rain.

Hey jgas,

Nice one, sir. I can't get a good view on the branches in hand, but bet'cha they are hops. Is this a Looper?

Bruce Mobley does not have this one in his collection: THE DICK BREWERY

The little bit of information that I found is all TOC. In 1902 he had 12 employees: Annual Report - Ohio. Dept. of Inspection of Workshops, Factories and Public Buildings including one boy between 15 & 18, who worked 10 hours a day. The employees were paid weekly. The location is listed at North Railroad St.

Here's the 1903 Sanborn of the Brewery: Bucyrus, Ohio

"Trade Names for the brewery at 500 Norton Way & George Street, Bucyus, OH:
George Donnenwirth & Henry Anthony, w/or followed by Christian Winegard 1863-1865, 1857-18??
Geo. Donnenwirth & Son 1874-1875
G. Donnenwirth & Bro. 1875-1889
Frank Dick, Jr. (538/568 North Railroad Street) 1889-1902
Dostal Brothers 1902-1912
Bucyrus Brewing Co. 1912-1919
Brewery operations shut down by National Prohibition in 1920
Dostal Products Co. (Readdressed to 500 Norton Way & George Street) 1919-1934
Issued permit L-?? for the production of non-alcoholic beverages during Prohibi(tion.)" Tavern Trove :

"The Gambrinus Brewing & Bottling Co., of Toledo, 0. which was incorporated a few weeks ago has elected the following officers: President JJ Hoch; vicepresident and general manager A Muntzenberger; secretarytreasurer FE McCaskey; directors Frank Dick, Bucyrus Reiner Hoch, Chicago The president and the general manager are Chicagoans and will remove their homes to Toledo. The company will operate the old Maumee brewery." American Brewers Review 1902-1903

Found this bottle in a C. 1900/1890 pit and cannot find too much about it. Maybe someone from Ohio might know. The embossing on the front has me intrigued. What the heck is the two hand thing clutching???? :dontknow:

I wonder how rare these are as well?? Thanks for any help on this one. jgas
