Well we had to tough it out with Arty today:( He had to work and he went out yesterday and did awesome! He will have to post his finds for you all to see. Went out with Jim yesterday Jim's day off from work. Couldn't have been a better day weatherwise:) Well Jim really kicked my butt today! We take turns so next time it will be my turn:)I ended up with 34 buttons of all kinds. 2 decorative watch winders, 3 thimbles, a 1/2 a large cent someone cut in half:( An Indian head penny 1897, a buckle, a 2 ring bullett, smaller bulletts and musket and buck balls, 5 drawer hardwear, lots of lead and a part of a jews harp. I am totally amazed at the amount of buttons that seem to be everywhere. They are of every kind, shape size and decoration. The one button I found I almost died! The picture doesn't show how gold it is. When I saw that in the ground I thought it was a small gold coin. I think it's plated. But have never found one of them before. All in all it was an awesome day to do what we both love to do and to have time with my son is priceless!

wow great finds!

Now that's some great finds.congrats.

My favorites are the watch winders and the gold gilted button. Very nice! Shame about the weather tomorrow or we could have possible had another awesome day. But a 31 degree high with 40 mph gusts don't sound fun. Can't wait to get out again :headbang:

Great stuff D. The winders and buttons just keep coming. I will be on the fields tomorrow come hell or high water...

The fields you have to hunt are AMAZING!!! By the number of finds your down DIGGIN as much as your up SWINGIN... Looks like alot of fun and I really like the WINDERS.. CONGRATS.. HH

Your gilt button is a beauty! And so many others, looks like someone in the old days tossed out their button box! Like the Indian cent very much! Yesterday I went back to detect where my son had dug an 1882 Indian cent a few weeks ago -- but what I found instead was bottle tops, mashed beer cans & a tiny restroom token -- guess after all the beer, they needed that token too, lol. You've found an amazing amount of good things, congrats & HH. Andi

Great post and great finds .. congrats !!

I prefer to read about fresh finds and I don't know why some other people feel the need to repost stuff that they have already shown us ... but I guess if they have to keep patting themselves on the back every day, it is what it is ..

Nice hunt !! :icon_thumright:

Wonderful assortment of yesteryear unearthed. May the 3 of you continue to have success there.

Are you saying that I am reposting things that I have found?? I am the most honest person you will meet and if that is what you are inferring that is unfortunate. You are right there are people that need the pat on the back but I am not one of them. I just show them as I find them.

Thanks for everyone's comments! It has really been fun finding all these goodies and I hope we find alot more to show you. Thanks Again

Yes Fishstick this has been amazing and we have been very fortunate to be at the right place at the right Time!

We are still trying to figure out why there are so many buttons. But when you think about it if there was activity from the 1600's until today and no one has ever swung a detector in the area, it stands to reason that whatever was dropped would still be there and for well over 300 years. I am still trying to figure out where all the watch winders came from? We have yet to find a pocket watch. Hope there is one there lurking for us to find:)
