Hello everyone. This will be my 17th and final post of "The Search". I hope you found this and the past posts interesting and maybe a little informative. It's been fun posting them. Good luck to everyone, MM2
4/28/11- Bought 1 box of halves( no silver but 6 proofs 71,73,74,90,92 and 98). Bought a box of nickels at another branch(Brinks)( no war or buffalo, 2 modern Canadians). Also bought 2 boxes of cents(Brinks) 1st box had 9 common wheats and 8 common Canadian cents along with 3 clad dimes. 2nd box had 10 common wheats and 6 common canadian cents.
4/29/11- Picked up my usual 4 boxes of halves(no silver in any boxes but there was a scattering of impaired proofs). Bought $10 in customer rolled cents(5 common wheats, 1 canadian).
4/30/11-No Searching
5/1/11-Bought a box of nickels(Brinks). One of my banks informed me that they could no longer sell me boxes as there were too many people coming in and buying boxes. There wasn't enough left for the business customers. The box had 1 Canadian and 1 V -Nickel(an 1898 in G-4 with a small scratch). Dumped some coins earlier. The teller let me keep a coin i spotted lying on top of the machine, a badly worn and bent dateless standing liberty quarter.
5/2/11-No searching
5/3/11-Bought a box of each denomination-All Brinks except the cents. The quarters and dimes were skunks, the nickel box had 1-war nickel(1945-P and 1 canadian), the cent box had 16? common wheats and 11 Canadian, oldest 1941.
5/4/11-Got out of work a few hours early. Dumped at 2 different banks, then picked up $80 in nickels( mostly garda) from 2 different banks(no war or buffalo, 1 or 2 canadian nickels and a 1993 bermuda 5 cents). Bought a box of halves(garda)( silver skunk, 1-1987-S proof, 1 gold plated obama half).Deposited the bag into another branch, bought a box of nickels. It had a date stamp of May 2010. It had 4 war nickels( 2-1944-P,1943-P,1943-S) and a unreadable partial date buffalo nickel.
5/5/11-Dumped at penny arcade, check the reject tray and found 3 silver dimes among other coins(1961,1964,1956). Bought a box of halves(Garda, skunk). Dropped off one bag of halves at another bank.
5/6/11-Bought 1 box of halves from my 1st bank(skunk) and dropped off returns at another bank. Bought $100 in dimes from a 3rd bank(Garda, skunk). Went to my 4th bank, they misordered and only had 2 instead of the usual 3 on hand. The 1st box had 3-40%ers and a 1979-S proof and the 2nd box was a skunk. Bought $10 in cents, they produced only a couple of common wheats and a 2003S proof. Bought $100 in dimes at another bank, it produced a 1964.
5/7/11- No searching, good day for yardwork.
5/8/11- Returned 2 bags and bought 2 boxes of nickels from 2 different branches. 1st box had a dateless buffalo and a 1942-S war nickel and the 2nd box with a May of 2010 date stamp had 1 war nickel(1944-P).
5/9/11- Made 4 bank stops. Bought $100 in dimes at bank 1, another $50 at bank 2(customer rolls), $100 at bank 3(mostly customer rolls) and 10 rolls each of dimes, nickels, and cents from bank 4.(mostly Garda). The customer rolled dimes produced 1947 and 1964 dimes along with several different types of foreign coins with silver rims. The nickels only produced a Mexican $1 coin, there was nothing in the machine rolled dimes and the cents were all 2011.
5/10/11-Picked up a box each of quarters, dimes, nickels and cents- All Brinks
The quarters were a skunk.
The dimes had 4 silvers(1952-D,1961-D,1963-D,1964)
The nickels(date stamp of may 2010) only produced a 1986 Canadian nickel.
The cents had 18 wheats (oldest 1919) and 8 Canadian(oldest 1948)
5/11/11-Dumped at 2 different TD branches. I learned something at the 1st branch. The teller tells me that some silver does get into the bags and gets shipped out. I always assumed that all penny arcades reject silver but i guess it has to do with the machine's calibration. Bought my weekly box of halves from Garda which had 2-1967 and a 1969-D. It also had a quarter which took place of a half. Bought $100 in dimes from each of 2 different banks(mostly Garda). The 1st $100 had a 1978 Canadian dime, a 2000 diez centavos from equador, and 2 silver dimes(1958,1963-D). The 2nd $100 worth had a 1944 Mercury dime.
I hope you all liked reading this post and the ones before it as much as i enjoyed posting it. Below are links to the previous searches. Hope you can click on them alright as my computer skills are lacking. Good luck to you all. MM2
