I went detecting after teaching school today so I only had an hour. I have been detecting in areas that I know will be target rich. I don't want to waste Old areas while I am learning. I was near the basketball courts but now I moved to an open area that is used for our neighborhood to walk, talk and play (approx 3 acres). I start and get 20 feet and get a quarter signal, dig and pull out a quarter. I have learned from here that once you pull it out check for more, a second one about a foot away, another a couple of inches away, and so forth and so on.. It was getting dark so I filled the holes and will return tomorrow as there were still targets. One of the coins was a 1942 wheatie. A COIN SPILL in the making. I really wonder what happens when someone looses change like this and doesn't realize it. IMG_0231[1].webp

Congrats, but IMO, you are not wasting any sites when you hunt them. As you get more confident in your abilities, you will return to places you have hunted before. Every site and hunt will teach you more. Just keep your passion. It will carry you forward.

Great going, especially for this time of year. The folks who lose a whole handful of money end up like me, with a pointed chin and flat forehead. That's from pulling on your chin when you are thinking and trying to figure out where your money went, and then slapping your forehead when you realize what happened. :)
Best of Luck,
Phil

Soi I went back and pulled another 2 quarters, 1 dime and 3 pennies. Yehaw
