The more I think about it, the better the idea seems to be.
All wedding licenses, marriage certificates and such, should come with a five year expiration date. At the end of five years, ~poof~ expired - unless renewed. No harm, no foul!
I think people would be nicer to each other if they knew that every five years you had to hope your partner would sign up for another five year wedding agreement.
