THE FORGOTTEN GAME OF SHYCOCKS.........

Recent research has proved that the tokens I have pictured (found over the years) were used in a game called 'Shycocks'.

The tokens were thrown at bird shaped targets to score direct hits by young boys in the 18-19th century. This Stems from Medieval times when they would thether up Cocks & stone them to death. Nice :-\

Those are some cool tokens Dugfinds!...what are they made out of? Looks like lead?

Yeah lead.

If you look at the bottom left token you can see the stones being thrown at the bird.

I can see why that game didn't last long.

I don't know if I'd want to be known as the king of shycocks.
 
Sounds like that game would've been fun...I'd say try and revive it, but PETA would be all over you! LOL!

That's an interesting piece of gaming history.

Any game where folks throw coins and tokens around outside is A OK in my book!
