We had a few options but I let Cru'dad call this one, & it worked out better than expected.
Although I'm calling this day 1 on this field we did have a little go on the higher area where the oilseed rape had failed & they drilled spring beans. We also had a few good finds whilst crossing it back & forth to the Trackway Site.
However, its the first serious grid we have done & although there are good finds they are very spread out & it takes a large area grid to get anything.
Just over 6 hours:

3 Scrappies (1 holed in the Saxon period)
Buckles - until I pictured them I hadn't realized that Cru'dad had found the other half of my Spec buckle.
2 Tudor Strap-ends
2 bits of Bronze age Axe
14th C Medieval Sword Chape
Bit of a 6th C Saxon Brooch
2 Rose Farthings
17th C Token
Mystery Hammered French Coin
Ed I Penny
Henry VI Penny (folded over)

Edward III Groat (had only 2 others, this is equal to the best):icon_thumright:

Sweet groat, is the looped bronze item on the right in image 3 a toothpick or fingernail cleaner?

A full Groat without damage is great! I like the variety and time span of the finds. I'd say my fave is the sword chape. Is the open work trefoil a common design?

Medieval Groat.....:notworthy: Excellent shape.

Neither, it had me fooled for ancient for a second. Pretty sure its a really old clock hand.

Yeah, relatively, I think this is our 3rd one. Seen lots of others.

Super!!! Congrats!!!

Lovely Groat.

Now I know what a Groat looks like. Congrats

That Groat is huge compared to the other hammereds!

A US sitcom made me laugh the other day, so I will adapt the joke to this situation:

I was so lucky this day, a horse try to take my shoe.:laughing7:

Very nice Groat coin Cru. Amazing to see this escape the plow damage and show up so nice!

Great day for silver, congrats on the Groat. The "hammered French" is well hammered.
