:headbang: Location, location! new spot, permission granted but lots of rain, two days with over 8 inches total in some places. My wife and I headed out early this morning, over 30 mile drive, the ground was soaked with water standing in some places but we had our grubby clothes on and water shoes. It started off poorly, barely dug the second hole and we had to find a place for a nature break, nothing was open that early. LOL.. Then it was kneeling down on the wet ground as we dug but it was the easiest digging we have ever had so we hurried from hit to hit. Then after digging about 3 chunks of foil with a reading of 45, a foot away I had another reading of 44 and to my total surprise, it was a small 10 K amethyst ring! After digging some clad and lots more pull rings and tabs, I had another slamming hit of 86,88, 86 and I expected it would be just another soda can but out popped this silver coin! I was momentarily confused as I wiped it, the image wasn't anything like i was expecting and then I realized it was a 25 cent Canadian coin but was it silver? It sure looked silver but I had no idea and the date was 1968.. I knew that the US had changed to clad after 64 but the Canadians? Anyways the wife found her 1st ring, a Hong Kong bling and her own clad and was excited by the gold and possible silver. Of course she had to try the gold ring on but it was too small. After we got home, I went on the inter net and found that in 68, they had minted two types of metal for that coin, pure nickle which a magnet would stick to and a .500 silver one that it would not stick to. So the magnet came out and there was not even the slightest hint of attraction! My 1st silver coin! Yep, I am pretty happy, two 1st in the same day and my wife is even more hooked and excited and can't wait to go back in the morning. it is amazing, one gold ring and digging the foil and pull rings/tabs are no problem at all! OH YEAH!!!!:hello2::hello2::hello2: View attachment 1021276

Good job Amigo ! Silver and Gold , that's treasure you got there .

Nice! Congrats!

Good for you, nice finds

Silver and gold, they're worth getting wet over. Congratulations. That's a beautiful ring.

Beautiful ring - you can get it sized to fit your wife for under $50.

Very nice looking ring! Congrats on being rewarded for digging that trash signal. I keep trying to get my gf to go with me, but she doesn't have the patience.

Beautiful ring , day like that makes the wet toes and knees seem not quite as bad . Keep digging and keep smiling.

Great Job and I really envy you two.... I bet you had a blast!!!! Hopefully you can keep it up....

I have been telling her that we have to dig those pull tab and foil signals if we want to find the gold, she's a believer now. it is also the same signal as a lot of the pencil erasers, we both have been digging a lot more nickles as well. If you can get the wife or girl friend to be there as you dig a ring out, they tend to get a little more serious about it. Mine dug her 1st ring, a bling but she had the glass out to make sure, she is a little on the ADHD side and she will tell you so. This means she tends to grid very well but she digs every tiny, spuratic, signal, even in a spot with a shredded can or foil, I can't begin to do this. I am working harder at digging those fainter signals, I just don't know how silver and other coins read as they get deeper on my AT GOLD. I understand that they don't always register on the numbers when they get too deep.... still learning , got a ways to go but still loving it.

Congrats. Hopefully there are more to come!

Nice! Thanks for sharing...

I read your story about that ol boy clearing out your area real good already so that makes this find that much sweeter. Be sure to rub it in next time you see him!

Awesome ring and Canadian silver sir! I brought my wife once at the beach and even though I was getting excited only digging clad quarters she just wasn't feeling it lol.
