Spent most of Friday afternoon hiking in Wisconsin's Kettle Moraine. . . a perfect day for sun, photography (and bugs).

Concrete walls and rusting metal (I have to admit, the Queen of Rust crossed my mind when I saw this) are all the only remnants from a marl plant that operated in this area in the early 1900's. (Marl, a chalky, lime-rich soil, was dug from pits then processed for fertilizer and masonry mortar)

I find it amazing how this tree, slowly but surely, took back what was hers.

Skunk cabbage and Marsh Marigolds were in full bloom along the natural springs.

Overall, I'd settle for a day of "finds" like this anytime ;)

Nice photo essay. Good use of light, texture, and color too!
