I was given an hour's access to a place that I've been
wanting to try for a while. It dates back to the early 1700's!

I've been looking for a long time and the layout is such that I figure
this was *NOT* virgin ground. But....I still wanted to try.
If only for the difference of it all.

Anyway, long story made short, this place has been hit, A LOT!
There were virtually NO signals anywhere! Not even new trash!
On top of that, there was a very strong influence from some overhead
wires and, (as if I needed more of a challenge), a dog fence! :BangHead:

So, there I am, a REAL challenge presented and I was beginning to think
that NOBODY could find a signal here! Not even.....the great WHADIFIND!! :sadsmiley:

About ready to quit when I *THOUGHT* I heard a "burp" in-between all the clatter
of the interference, iron & mineralization. I could get it to repeat a couple times and
the pinpoint confirmed that there was something down there. So, why not? I dug.

Here is the find after an initial cleaning:

All things considered, he's not in very bad shape! BUT...he is VERY special to me!
In this place! With all the interference, (and I'm meaning the worst I've ever tried to hunt!)
I found not only a coin, but a reasonably older one and in very acceptable condition!
No skunk! I'm happy! :)

Then, just as I swung for home, I checked around the old mailbox by the road.
I got this nice hit. I dug and I saw "roundness in my hole!!!!"

After I ran around screaming for a while, climbed a tree and swung to another!
I got down and pried this puppy out of this 1700's ground, hoping upon hope!
"Be a good one! Be a good one! Be a good one!!!!"..........

JEFF!??!?!? THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!! :tongue3:

How long have these things been around!?!?!?!
It has the initials HH on it too! How fitting!! LOLOLOL

Sorry for such a waste of reading time but I just had to offload! :)

Great story and nice buffalo nick. Congrats.

Great post!! Bet that got your heart pumping! I hunted a property that had a electric fence once. Couldn't stand it and left after 30 minutes

HH RN

Hi; Does the HH stand for Hubert Humphrey ?? :laughing7: Cool finds. Glad there was no skunk. Those electrical wires seem to be chasing you around.!!! PEACE:RONB

Congratulations on the Buffalo. The first time I dug one of those tokens, the Eagle was looking up at me from the hole. I'm thinking maybe a colonial? Man, what a bummer.
The only thing that allowed me to continue a hunt with the AT PRO around Electrical Interference, (Transformer), was to turn my sensitivity way down.

Just found a No Cash Value Eagle token like yours the other day. The HH stands for Hoffman and Hoffman (Hoffman Mint) and they have been making them since about 1970 I believe?13892101_10201803279121846_1653973540980090640_n.webp13907157_10201803280321876_7587852664497642605_n.webp

Nice story, a cool buff and token. The EMI is a pain in the "coil", but you did well for those tough conditions!

SOMETHING WRONG HERE .THEIR ARE 2 PEOPLE OF INTREST MISSING IN THIS POST .. WHERE IS BLINGY AND FISHY , NICE FINDS .

Awesome on the Buffalo W_

no matter how hard a place has been hunted there is always a Nickle left.
and A buffalo beats Jefferson. in most cases.
looks like there is a date there too :notworthy:

No comment on the No Cash Value Token :tongue3:

Nice Hunt Wadi !

Good work nice Buff I have a few of those HH tokens, better than a stick in the eye.

I know the whirlwind of emotions of getting access to a place you drool over only to be let down by the finds, given the circumstances I'd say you did well, that token was a heartstopper I'm sure!

Nothing wrong, Blingie is wallowing around in his treasure chest and Fishy is happily playing with his toys. After seeing ALL that bounty I brought home, they took off. :dontknow:

Oh yeah, I backed the sensitivity down, a LOT! Also notched out a lot of lower VDI and even worked the frequencies for the least impact. Kind of impressive in a way too. This was a nickle AND down about 5-6 inches and it still, with all that lost power, picked up on it through the interference. Transformer was bad enough! But, add to it that dog fence! YIKES! I have a headache!

Still, I've been offered another bit of time there today, so guess where I'll be? ;) LOL

Whadi, The buffalo nickle is a sweetheart, congratulations. According to my research (and imagination) the eagle tokens were first used at colonial buggy wash establishments and Rev War era gaming arcades. Sub 8-)

Oh yeah! I figured modern day and fairly recent. I was just wondering if there's a way to tell how old.

There are some differences in them, here they are together:

EAGLE TOKEN.webp2016 (473).webp

Different number of stars, the shield is stamped differently, etc.

Kind of interesting.

Thanks!

Sooooo....is there video of your gymnastics?????

Well if nothing else, your arteries are now clear!
The buf with a date is a nice prize and especially in such electrified ground!

Theres a school here that has underground power lines, can't get with in 20 feet of it.
I have a feeling that even if i turned off my detector it would still be chattering!
