The first hour was nice as the ground was still frozen but it soon turn to soup & warmed up so much I had to take off 2 layers! As sometimes happens the best find came from a previous blank area & we were not expecting much today. This site is mostly 5th-6th C, we had only had 1 middle Saxon pin-head that we thought to be a freak, so when Cru'dad got the sceat we were both very surprised. I remarked that we hadn't even had any Saxon strap-ends (another friend of sceats), & would you believe it, on the same run Cru'dad got one!
Cortes fights back.
