Knee Deep In A Creek in Maryland
I visited this ghost town and mine last week while in Vegas. While talking to the owner of the property I noticed she was wearing a chain around her neck and swinging on the end was a big old gold nugget. She told me that a few people come out once in a while with metal detectors to poke around and it's ok with her. So...I asked about hunting the old mines on the property and she said sure! They give mine tours so it can't be too dangerous. I would have to sign a liability waiver like everybody else that takes the mine tour, but that's no problem. I have to email her to find out if I can camp out out back for a week. It's about 35 miles out in the middle of nowhere, about 5 miles from the Colorado River. AND my wife said I could go alone. (she doesn't get the treasure hunting thing) Any way, I just had to let somebody know. What do you think?!

Sounds great TC. Just be careful when you dig gold signals that there isn't still a finger in a gold nugget ring! Vegas has history you know! ;D Good luck and HH~CO2

Sounds like it will be a good trip TOWCritter. Be sure and take plenty of pictures to share with us. Good Luck, and be careful. Joe

have one word GRRRRRR is that a word? thats a "golden oppertunity"and ditto on the snaps! ;D

I think I would bring a friend along since going in a mine alone isn't real smart but hey when the bug bites we all do wild and crazy things. Go for it and be carefull. I found a Bird cage in an old mine shaft back in central city. Pretty cool .
HH and wish I was there.

Buzzy worms? I think I know what you mean. They had an old picture of a miner holding up a rattler. It was 7 feet 11 inches long and 89 pounds! Me and my buddies used to hunt 'em down when we were stationed in 29 palms. Nothing quite that big but we did catch a few near 6 feet.

and when they said you would be in the trenches, somehow I don't think they meant gold trenches HAHA HH and good luck!

Don't forget to check the tailings pile. That is where they dumped the rock after processing it. They didn't get it all. There are nuggets and fines in them there piles. ;D

Man TOWcritter, I'd go for that fast.

That is, I would If'n I didn't know the story about the evil spirit that prowls that area and sucks the eyeballs out of all who attempt to steal it's gold. They say IT masquerades as a woman during the day time.

LOL Have at it and have fun!

Looks like fun - good luck!

Show some pics when you get back!
