Hi All!

Weather here in Mass was strange and interesting today - sunny and beautiful one minute, dark and rainy the next, then sunny, cold and windy a few minutes after that. My day of hunting took on the same highs and lows.

Managed to sneak out to an old local park between the rain and snow storms, and was going along having found just a 1948 Rosie. Then while digging a target along a sidewalk (1918 wheat), a noise startles me- it's a police car driving right into the park where I am- surprising because this park has car access on one side only and that is from a street that if you didn't know it was there, you'd never, ever find it. Anyway, he justs asks how I'm doing and heads off. The bad news of my title happened right there, as I noticed my X-1 probe was malfunctioning- chirping all over the place when it should have been quiet. A closer look showed some cracked outer wire covering and what appears to be a broken wire or two inside- Damn! Sunray will be getting it back as soon as I speak to them tomorrow.

Now the good news. After noticing the X-1 issue and not finding too much, I figured I'd hunt in a back to the car direction. Got a nice sounding silver signal, but without my probe I had to be extra careful. Pull out a plug and then a handful of dirt and I see a silver edge- pull it out- nice 1907-O Barber quarter! Not long after, another solid silver hit, 6 inches or so. Pull a plug and a couple of handfuls of dirt and I see silver again- even bigger- 1944 Walking Liberty half, and not 1 foot from the half, another silver hit- 1939 Washington quarter.

Those 3 took some of the sting off my X-1 situation, but it's so strange not having it. I even unsnapped it a couple of times to use it- force of habit.

Enjoy the pic and HH all.

Jeff

Great Haul of silver Congrats, that half dollar is a beauty. Sorry to hear about the probe.

Sounds like mostly good news to me! You can replace equipment, and a trio of large silvers has to take the sting out of it.

Very nice! Sorry about your X. Hope you get it fixed soon.

Nice silvers...What a great walk back to the car....by the way don't let the rain bother you, that is what baggies are for...we use them all the time..he he...
