There's holes in them thar holes

Our AM hut in the woods was a bust and that's on me for not scouting the area before getting others involved. My gps coordinates of an old home site led us to a trash dump. Yay! We gave it our best under the conditions and then went up the road to a historic area, which did not pan out today. We said our "good-byes" and I headed down to the city for a couple hours. So back I went to the southerly exposure to hit the slope again. Turning up less now but the finds had an amazing theme - four of the targets dug had holes in them. Check it out! The items pictured at the top are those found on the woods hunt; below that are the park finds.

I like the reward tag.

Nice assortment of goodies! Congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice holes! Love the assortment of goodies.

Congrats on those finds McCDig. :occasion14: You just weren't going to be denied were you? Looks like your persistence paid off.

Holy Cow! There was a "Whole" lot of piercing, perforating, and drilling going on on that slope....Sub 8-)

Thanks Sub! Confuse-Us say: "Detectorist wearing steel-toed boots will find feet first."

Thanks L-D! You nailed it! I was not going home "empty-handed"!

Thanks kingskid1611! The quarter was the "shocker"; someone got a little crazy with the power tools.

Thanks Professor! The park keeps producing. Think I'll swing around the slope and try for "greener pastures" next visit.

Thanks aj! I agree. From what I've read, the tag's date is unknown to me. It is brass and refers to a "letter box", so I think it is pre-1950. From other finds in this area, I'd say it dates no earlier that 1920.

Thanks Art! It was good to pull some oldies before heading home. How's hunting on the Shore?

Nice assortment of tags & coins finds "congrats " - quarter with the hole couldn't make the date out, anyway thanks for sharing your pictures and story. Wish you many more great finds.

Thanks Texas Ed! Quarter date is 1967, so no harm done there, just can't throw it in my clad bin. It is officially relegated to the "oddity" category. That is one step above "bent coin".
