Dang Matt, ya'll cleaned up... sad I'm not able to be there to help! And I see you've found yet ANOTHER piece of a US belt plate?!!
You truly are the luckiest guy I know when it comes to good finds. If the people here could only see HALF of the stuff you showed me that day at your house, they'd lose their ever lovin' MINDS! :notworthy:

Thanks, We had a pretty good day I'm already ready to go back out there. Man we sure dug up alot of iron out there! Sure wish that US belt plate was all there. Good luck hunting down there.

Cheyenne, I agree, it could maybe be a bcukle but it looks more like a lid, maybe the sliding lid to a tin. (we can't see the longer side pieces how they're both bent to be sure that it isn't a hinged lid?) :dontknow:
