recess around the "cross" looks much too deep to be a coin. Maybe it's a trick of the light, but my inclination would be toward something other than a cob

Hard to see in pic but there appears to be some kind of symbols in each corner

Certainly don't take what I'm saying as definitive proof, but I would expect that a silver coin that had spent some time in the surf to be a bit smoother. Also, if I'm seeing the depth around the "cross" feature correctly, it looks like whatever that is, is VERY thick, relative to a coin. Even an early silver one.

My girlfriend found 2 1 realest there this spring and both are fully readable coins here don't seem to take that bad of a beating get an 1803 large cent I would grade around a fine to extra fine items seem to sink very fast in this sand and this coin was twice the size do to the entrusting on it

Nothing on the cross just build up cross is clean

Heres mine to compare. On mine the recesses around the center of the cross are the deepest parts.

But your cross looks wider but Im certainly no expert on cobs. No 2 are exactly alike.

Plymouth,
Looks like Cob to me, just very worn. Take pic in macro setting / natural filtered light if u can
Re-take pics both sides and post...but I strongly feel it is a cob, congrats.

Will do my best. One of the colonial guys in the club I belong to knows quite a bit about Cobbs he says it's good

Take the photo on a colored background like blue or even red.

I agree the cross is too deep - IMO
