I found this ring buried deep in the rocks and muck at a local lake. Was out as deep as I could get away from the normal high traffic areas. Could barely dig it and took about 15 minutes to get out. It came out with some tarnish but may have been there for years. A little Dawn and it cleaned up pretty well. Stamped 18k. Weighs 17.87 grams. Hope it’s real. Also does anyone know the symbol. No idea what it stands for. Appreciate your thoughts! 317B183B-0720-4615-BB21-F3B4EA8F1D0F.webp5666C50F-7872-4A8A-AC27-451234306E95.webp9F3863ED-5145-4D48-B94B-6C2319AAC4B9.webpB8896151-4B00-4F8D-B76D-D33D07F99779.webp1A40C5EE-2207-4F5A-8C2E-C0230C5B0F15.webpE9E0780B-5701-4BD0-A14F-63A4026A39CE.webpD041EA01-ED37-417C-BFA3-F48B7C7657CA.webp

Wow!. That's a hunk of serious ring!!!! Nice find.

dang. if that's actually 18k, that ring is currently a little over 800 bucks melt value

Great find! That's a lot of ring there!

Yep thinking 819 and 655 in the clear. If real.

Thanks CalReg!

Very nice find! I have yet to find a huge ring like that. Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Nice honker, There are inexpensive acid test on amazon, any jeweler would test it for you no charge. All the gold I found in my freshwater lakes, unless they were 10k came out of the water looking like bright shiny gold. The higher the caret the brighter the piece. Question, did you bite your nails in the last few pix? lol

I work at a pawn shop and we see several of these types of rings a week... all are fake.

The story (of course some people deny it) is someone comes up to them, usually with a nice vehicle, even with family in the car. They lost their wallet, or somehow lost their money and will trade their jewelry for any money. Usually it's like $25 to $50, and the hopefully spender gets a ring stamped 18k. We've also seen fake chains, etc. Every single ring of this design that has come thru has been fake.

Of course, get a local jewelry to check it out just to be sure. I hope it's the real deal, but please go in with expectations of a fake ring, and I hope you're pleasantly surprised.

Yes I’m going to have to get an acid test kit. I agree my gold also has come out looking bright. Was hoping if in a long time... that was too funny about the nails. Had to look back at the pictures. Forgot my wife was holding the ring in the first ones and I was holding for the last 2.

Well that would make sense with the tarnish A person’s father I know had that happen and bought a fake stamped ring that looked believability for $20. I will not expect much but will also remain hopeful. Thanks for the information!

I found a 21.83 gram 14 kt solid gold ring last year, and took it directly to a jeweler and she ran a digital tester on it and said it was real. Still in doubt I asked if she’d scratch it and acid test it and she did. All of this for free. Of course she wanted to give Me $200 bucks on the spot. I’m telling you this because they have the digital testers and acid on hand. Just don’t let them sucker you out of it:) Very Nice !!! Congrats!!!

Thanks Digger RJ. Congratulations on your ring. I will take it up to a place that buys gold for testing who has been pretty good to me. They have always given me about 80% of current gold price. They test it right in front of you. Might not get there until the weekend. I will definitely update the post. Probably with a bunch of tears lol.

Nice honking ring, hope the test comes out well.

hope it test real :icon_thumright:...ive found close to 1000 gold rings and have never seen an 18k ring discolor though

Digging that honker out should magically make it GOLD,, but it looks like 18K BRASS to me.
Congrats on a nice ring.

That's what I call a WOPPER! Congrats on making such a great find.

Ive found 9k that look like that.
