Thinking about the Explorer XS

Iron Patch:

They call them pickers and other nicknames for less than nugget-size. I've
made three propecting trips to AZ and once to Montana and still have not dug
any sized gold using a detector. You need a Minelab alright but a PI model.
The Tesoro and Fischer VLFs do well in AZ too. The gold I did find was using
a gold pan.
You are right about lead, should be similar in detectability, maybe easier to
detect. I'll have to test that on my Explorer.

You can find gold nuggets with any detector even a garrett ace 250

RThat's all you got?eally?
That is it unless you want to spend all night arguing but i have better things to do like count my silver & gold !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :offtheair: :occasion14:

Keppy, I seriously wasn't trying to argue with you or insult you. You undoubtedly have a great machine and you know it well. I have little time on a Sov, but some. The only point I was trying to make is that the Sov is also a known and proven prospecting machine. Don't really care what the GT stands for or what minelab swears it can't do. In the right hands I believe it would be a better machine than the x-terras or the MXT in all catagories. JJ
Dogcaught i know we all have our own ideas i know that they use the Sovereign for gold but minelab told me it was no good for Gold . Even though i know you can find gold with any detector... A few years back Garrett had i think he was 12 years old in his searcher paper found a nugget with his Ace 250 in Az

I think I have definitely made up my mind on a explorer (probably the II). I just want something different. I am from West-Central PA living in NV, so obviously coin/relic is my number 1 priority, although a multi-purpose would be nice for the different areas I am in. I hope my investment is worth it and I will let everyone know how this turns out. Again thank you for your responses. The feedback back I got from internet reviews was just confusing being a 50/50 of people who liked it and those who didn't with out any excuse other than it was difficult to use. I know the people on this forum have the most experience with this detector which is why I asked before I bought anything (and yes this is a expensive purchace for me). Thanks

Congrats! :icon_thumright: for deciding on an explorer. The best teacher will be first hand use and experience. Also plenty of experienced users on the forums ready to help you out. But it doesn't hurt to give yourself a head start and familiarize. I would order a copy of Andy Sabisch's Explorer and Etrac handbook ASAP and maybe start playing with the Exp II emulator so the day it arives you already know what the buttons do and how to navigate through the screens and set it up. YouTube is also good to help familiarize. LaDigger has a ton of good hunting vids full of tips and tricks with the Exp II. JJ
