The finds from my new (to me) colonial home site have been dwindling so I decided to replace the 5X8 coil on the ATP with the bigger 8.5X11, hoping the extra depth would help me find a few more goodies. I didn't find a lot, but did manage to recover a partial engraved silver cufflink. It's missing about a third of the surface and the shank is gone, but I was very happy to find it.

This is the third silver cufflink that I have found at this site, and all are from the 18th century. I previously posted the other two-an oval one with a plain front and a 1761 Spanish Half Real that has been made into a cufflink. Unlike the latest link, the shanks are intact on both of them.

Other finds for the day were a pewter spoon handle, two iron buckles, a flat button and a mystery T-shaped item that I have no clue about.

The home site that was previously there was obviously owned by someone with means (and they sure seemed to like cufflinks!) It's now a small field in the woods, and the only "signs of life" were a few pipe stems and ceramic pottery shards.

The hunt club that leases the property plans to plow the field any day. You can bet I'll be out there as soon as they do!
