This day's fossil and mineral finds (did I find a bone?)
I only had about 45 minutes down in the creek, but I found some neat stuff as always. I have started looking mostly in the creek bed, among all the washed up gravel the storm surges bring in, rather than in the dry shale wall. I tend to find better stuff there.
Firstly, the petrified wood fragments. The upper left is the biggest flat piece I have found so far. I'll have to find something to do with all these. Maybe stack and glue them into a neat looking sculpture.
I found these minerals too. Some are crystalized, they're mostly just pretty. The one to the right of the penny, with the "leg" on the left side is somewhat clear. No idea what it is, but it stood out.
Finally, the shells. Except for the thing to the left of the penny. It is not a shell, but it doesn't look like a natural rock at all.
I had to wonder about this, and got to thinking it could possibly be a bone, or tooth. Any ideas?
