✅ SOLVED This is so cool, but what is it?

I found this in the old barn next to my house that has a dirt floor. I am 99.9 present positive that it is sterling. There is a word on it that I think is sterling but I am not positive.
I think it is used to dispel fancy silverware but I am not positive.

This is it holding a spoon.

If any one has a any idea of a age or if it something else, it would be very appreciated.

I am pretty sure it is a picture molding hook. Back in the old old days there was a piece of wood molding that ran around the perimeter of the room below the crown molding. These hooks would hang on that molding and a decorative cord would mount to the picture frame and hang on the hook. Here is one similar to yours.

Here's a couple like yours listed on eBay as Victorian. I'd call them "turn of the 20th C - give or take a decade".



That said, apparently you can buy them on Amazon. Why am I not surprised...
