Hey hey diggers!
Out stomping through some fields yesterday with Iron Patch trying to make some finds.
Detecting some good finds was a bit challenging to say the least...but eye balling one kinda made my day.
I am so surprised it hadn't been beat to smithereens by the ploughs over the years and is beyond me how it stayed intact. A first for me, this brown single groove ceramic telegraph pony insulator (beehive). Theres a big ole river and a few miles between where I picked this up and the railroad existed..to best of my knowledge..the telegraph wire ran along side the tracks, so it showed up in a very unlikely spot.
It stands a tall 3 inches high and just under 2 1/4 inches at the base....maybe you insulator aficionados could shed more light on this as I have only a modest knowledge of these type things.
Until next time...it is nice to see the breakables come from the dirt intact...the chips just tell a story.
