This just makes me sick

This is horrible...simply horrible.

How did this 20 year old end up in jail?

I know, it's all the cop's fault and the lawsuits will seek unspecified damages but where does the blame truly lie?

Going the simplistic route here again, defining the blame game, but it's the only one that will be played out from this scenario since the poor baby will not be a factor in our world.

Why she is there is irrelevant, four attempts to get help and only getting help after they are made
aware a baby has been born is inexcusable.

neglect is neglect. regardless of why she was there, she was not being supervised.
in most courts and jurisdictions, their lack of supervision, which caused a death, is called "negligent homicide"

Report stated the officers were there at the time of delivery. Contradicts statements that they were not. Contradictions do not draw me to one side or the other. No proofs are given in the report from the provided link.

And yes, why she was there does matter. Funny how this adult is not responsible for her actions leading to this situation but the leo's are, or will be in the court of public opinion.

I respectfully disagree, the "why" means nothing once the door is closed and locked as the person
incarcerated is now at the mercy of those with the keys.

once she is there she is the responsibility of those who put her there. her welfare, her housing, her food, her
MEDICAL care, is in there hands. she has no control over it. the sheriff's dept dropped the ball and failed to do what they are being paid to do. that's, at the very least, manslaughter.
