This ring seems a odd

I was going through old finds and decided to clean this ring my wife found.The way it looked I thought it was junk but the more I cleaned the more gold came out in it.
I acid tested and it dissolved the line but it took quite awhile.

Probably had a heavy gold plate on it. What is the stone?

There's lower karat than10k I scratched it deep still gold scraped the surface vigorously and it got shinier.The setting isn't silver what else could it be ,it is soft.
