Wow what a week.....okay I'm getting to understand the language.

I've spent the past week hunting two places...one is a huge public park that I'll never run out of dirt to cover. The other is a grist mill that was begun in 1742 and was finished in 1776. It was owned by none other than George Washington who also owned the town as well.

My woman and I spent about 5 hours in looking around for jewelry. I spent all my time hitting the volleyball courts which up until 4 years ago were sand but had all been filled in. I dug every friggin pulltab reading I could locate and FINALLY I pulled a silver and sapphire bracelet out. Wow are my hands blistered. I'll post pics as soon as I am able. I tossed it on her wrist and sat my exhausted behind down...She was happy..I was happy.

Now for the fun stuff. The mill.

It sits behind a barbwire fence and is closed off the the public except for two days every year when there is a big festival in town...called Pioneer Days. A lot of the area that surrounds it is overgrown so I'll be waiting for fall/winter to try the woods. Also in this enclosed area are a sewing shop and a distillery.

I have two friends that are grounds keepers at the park. I was poking my way around the tot lot one day and my bud comes up...tosses me the keys to the gate and says lock it up when your done and if I find where the outhouses were to let him know cause he wants to dig them for the bottles....WOOOOHOOOO

Needless to say I've spent the last week there besides the one day at the park.

I WISH I HAD A CAMERA.

I've found this week....
One colonial copper..bad shape and unable to read a date.
One Indian Head...1901..poor but readable
One piece that looks like a 4 reale Spanish coin but is made of something that resembles pewter so ether it's a copy or someone was trying to make some counterfeit reales there.
Numerous hammered Iron items...but mostly decorative swirls and such
MANY fired musket balls...and TONS of lead
One 4' long hand forged chain with a big loop on one end.
Various wagon parts
One Timex watch at about 5"...it is filled with water..I turned it over and it says that it is completely water proof and shock proof. I should send it back and laugh at them. Really nice band tho...looks brand new.
Three pill boxes..whole and in pieces
about $4 in clad

Edited to toss in that I found a broken shoe buckle as well ...lol

I'm still learning this detector....and I'm picking up on the language it speaks.
BUT after my time at the parks...I sure know when it's a pull tab..SIGH

I'll keep ya updated.
