While picking up things for this week's lunches, I swung by the Coinstar in the grocery store. There were a few coins so I started digging them out of the slot. One of them was golden and I thought that some poor schmo had dumped a gold coin in the bin. Once I got to the car, I got the coin out of my pocket and, on inspection, found it to be a commemorative "golden coin" with Ulysses Grant on it. It shows a value of $1.00.
I handed it to my wife who works for a jeweler and asked what she thought. Too light for gold, she said. Then she said, "You have the technology. Look it up". Turns out to be a copper alloy coin with a melt value of $0.047.
My question is, where do I invest that windfall?
