Thought it was a button but not sure

Hello all,

Was hoping someone could help me ID an item I dug up in an area I was plucking flat buttons out of the ground. The AT Pro was giving me 60's and 70's and each time I got those numbers in this area I dug and got a flat. Got ten the one day. The weird one I thought was another when I got the same readings turned up the oval item in the top center of the pic. Has that square hole in it also. I never saw a button like that so I am not sure what it is....unless it really is a special style of button.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like it may be a decorative ring for a drawer pull.

Is possible. Thought it may have been too small for that measuring at 1 1/2" X 3/4".

Maybe off a small desk or sewing drawer
