Hey...it's a barber....better than a merc...look on the bright side, it's early. I"ve seen barbers pop up at early sites...you get your hopes up for a nice seated or capped....and ole barber shows her face.... ???

Dont feel bad, you did better than I did.... I didnt even post this weekend. I couldnt find crap if I stepped in it :D The best I could do was another small rosette. Atleast you got silver

I will trade for the 1903 V nickle i got last week at a cellar hole
next to nowere :dontknow:

If you dont want it I can PM you my address. :dontknow: I bet you had high hopes when you saw silver in the hole? It happened to me the other day with a silver washington quarter.

Damn Hogge when you're good, you're smokin good, and when you're not, you suck! ;D Hang in there because we've all had times like that. What I do is look back on my better finds, especially the ones that really turned an ordinary or even a bad day around. That's the great thing, just one hole can turn a rotten stretch of hunts into a great year! A few years back we got into the habit of hitting the same sites over and over it was good for a while, but finally caught up with us which made for a bad year. Compare that to today that we put much more effort into finding new places to hunt and not only have we been on many new quality sites, I have so many ideas built up we will be lucky to get through them this year. Actually we won't get through them because I make sure I am always at least 5 steps ahead.

Not as big a shock as the 1986 quarter I found at a colonial site last Sun but I thought it would be at least seated. >:(

I hear what you're saying, brother. I was digging in the woods this week, not 10 feet from two US Cartridge Co 1930's shotgun brass, and pulled up a 1988 clad quarter from 3" down. This is the same woods that produced my 1832 Capped Bust 50 cent and 1802 Large Cent, so when I saw the +83 VDI and the 2.5 khz band light up, I thought I had a guaranteed winner. Boom! I'll trade my 1988 for your 1900. =)

Hogge, I've been having the same problem. Was getting some largies a coupla weeks ago, but since then I've had difficulty breaking the 19th century, even at my good sites.
Almost had a dime slam of all things the other day. Started out with a seated, got the merc and fdr, but couldn't find a barber like yours to complete it. Dime slams are fun, but I'd much rather come home with a pocket full of tombacs and a coupla coppers.
Keep it up. Your'e due!

Any early silver is a good day in my books.

:headbang:I think it's a great find Hogge-I went out in my fields for a few hours and all I got was a button ! keep up the good work
