Went to a site near a civil war battlefield yesterday. Found some three ringers, lead seal and a musket ball but unfortunately no buttons. I did dig this odd brass piece which looks kind of like a hammer of some sorts, maybe off a very small gun of some type (probably not, very small, but wishful thinking!). Any id help would be greatly appreciated.

The other item I found at another site that has produced several confederate military buttons. The outer casing looks to be silver and decorated but I have no idea what it is. Again any help would be appreciated. The Merry Widows tin also came from that site. Thanks for looking and hope everyone had a great weekend!

I may be wrong ; But I believe the silver tube is part of a Mechanical pencil which were popular in that time frame...

Thanks Tennessee. It is a great site but unfortunately spring growth will probably keep us out until next winter. Thanks for the comments.
