No the greatest find ever but I’ve been skunked for weeks so it feels pretty good to finally come home with more than a flake that has possibly been retouched. Really nice material, decided to walk a little cow path and was picking lots of little flakes. Reached down to grab the edge of a white flake and felt that resistance, that’s always a good feeling.

I wasn’t even thinking gunflint, I’d have to check my facts but if it is, it would be native made, not imported. From what I understand English flints were black and French a honey colored. Probably still leaning scraper but an interesting option.

Not bad! I hate getting skunked. Especially, if my opportunities are few.

Clearly, the back-end was snapped off. So it could have had an extended hafting section. Or it’s an intentional break.

Hope you don’t mind my adding mine here.

A few of the ‘thumb’ scrapers I find have nothing but the bit end, and barely enough back end to hold. Hence, I guess they are better described as ‘Thumbnail-Scrapers’.

I don’t mind, the more I hunt artifacts and study things the more I kinda like a good scraper, sometimes the workmanship is better than you find on a point

Looks like a nice thumb scrapper.

Congratulations on a very nice find!
