Tiger shark "salt mode"

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

This mode dials in less sensitivity to make it more stable. Just turning down the sens. doesn't do it.

Now if ya wanna ask a harder question, ask why it has a Slow and a Fast mode.

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

EZrider,

The salt mode also utilises a different electronic circuit in the detector to handle the conductive salt sand. As far as I know it is the only VLF water detector that approaches the problem in this manner. Joe

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Hey thanks for the replys gentalmen! Thats probley the reason why they didnt put the sens adjustmet on the outside of the unit. On that adjusting the internal sens would also affect the "salt mode" aswell?

Just got the machine today. A very well built unit. I ran though the air test no problem. Went out to my test bed and hit all targets including my 8in dime with no problems. Just have to figure out how to secure the coil cover on without glueing it.

Any tips or tricks i need to know?

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

EZrider,

Put four evenly spaced Small dots of Goop glue on the INSIDE upper edge of the cover. Snap it on the coil. When you want to take it off just use a razor knife to cut through the four dots of glue. Joe

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Well so far so good. Just got though bench testing it in all the modes playing around with the discrimination. Seems like my discrim is off by one number difference. Maybe something internal has changed since the manual was printed. I'm not going to touch the internal settings as i think there fine. I might head to the beach tomarrow for a bit and play around with it a little. Going to bring a small ring tied off with 30 pound test mono and see how it gos. I'm not expecting $1200 performance out of a $600 machine. If i can get one of the most hyper sensitive machines on the planet to work in the wet salt sand here i shouldn't have to much trouble with the Tiger Shark.

OK, I will ask Mr. Sandman, I was just wondering this the other day. :icon_scratch:

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

I haven't had a problem with my coil cover coming off yet. It's on there real good. Don't know the manufacture off hand but if interested I can look for ya. Never applied any kind of glue or anything.

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Beachlooker, i want to know too :tongue3: I have a Tesoro "brown" cover that came with it. Its thicker that other coil covers i have seen and thats a plus. I just used a couple of velcro ties to hold it for now.

Im still trying to figure out how the hip mount pouch gos over the control box ::)

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Slow helps in pinpointing small/weak targets and helps large targets to be identified by tracing the size and shape.

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

The mode switch controls the tune speed in All Metal Slow or Fast. I use fast for finding targets that are close to each other, but I think slow is deeper.

The hip mount bag hangs around your neck. It has the controls in the bag with the wires coming out of holes you cut in the bottom. I liked this set up better than the belt mount, but it is a personal preference.

I got my detector and coil cover from this company in the above link. I did't see who makes it but like I said it never comes off and when I take it off to clean out any sand that might have made its way between the cover and coil it can be a real pain. Which is good I guess.

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Thanks for the tip on all metal fast and slow. I think I will experiment more with them the next time I go out.

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Sandman, do you have a pic of your setup? I think my hip/body mount bag is diffrent than what you discribed.

Re: Tiger shark "salt mode"

Look at my setup on my ebay store.
