Time for Tiffany, Tiki's and Timmy Tiptoes Too!

I haven't been picking for a few weeks. Yesterday was a joke, hit about 20 sales, all junk, only bought one small sterling bracelet. Today was much better. I found a few unexpected surprises.

The first small yard sale produced a nice pair of Beswick Beatrix Potter (BP1a) Squirrels. They are named Squirrel Nutkin and Timmy Tiptoes. I paid a dollar for the pair.

The next finds came from a high end garage sale or "luxury Item garage sale" as the the two fellas described it in their colorful ad. I scored the Russian Pilotka with 60 pins on it,

the Tiffany Rhodium Swing clock (mini),

the Swarovski dice (along with the others),

and a Kosta Boda 11" Fanfare candlestick signed by the artist Kjell Engman (not pictured). Paid $10 asking price for the lot.

On the way home from the last sale we stopped by the flea market at the dog track in Hallandale. I lost myself in a box of pins, buttons, coins, and other assorted junk for about 20 minutes at one booth, as the wife went looking around on her own. I went looking for her after I was done picking out a couple small junk drawer type trinkets. I found her in some Haitian ladies booth looking through her bins of junk. I started searching myself. I found the bottom to a Disney Polynesian village Tiki mug. I knew the top was missing so I started looking through a couple other bins. I first spotted the top and quickly noticed it was attached to the bottom of another mug, great. A second later I spotted the top to the one I already had in my hand. So... cool, I have 2 of them.

I haven't found any recent completed listings, just one for sale @$285.00.

I spied the Toledo Sword Bull cocktail spears on the way to pay the lady (or ask her how much). Every time I find one of these little Toledo Sword things, I buy it. Some of them sell pretty good and they are usually cheap.

She wanted $15 for the 3 pieces and a pack of Christmas cards the wife had. I was thinking like $10 tops but we settled on $12.

All in all it was a decent Sunday morning. Now all I need is a good estate sale to go to.

Those are the best boxes ;) Very sweet find on the squirrels, and I love the Swarovski dice! I see you picked up some casino dice, too; any market for those?

Nice finds!!!!

I would have popped on the clock, and possibly the Disney drink things. I would have never guess that the Disney was that good.

Congrats!!!

Certain ones sure- dice vegas| eBay Mine? I doubt very much. I have a bunch of other dice too. Another one of those things I buy all the time... vintage dice.

Update- The Beswick Timmy Tiptoes sold for $96.00. One (I only listed 1) of the Disney Tiki mugs sold for $179.99.
Haven't listed anything else yet. That's how I end up with so much stuff. I'll sell a couple pieces, make a good profit and the rest ends up in a box. One of these days...

Any idea why the Polynesian Resprt mug sold so well? Is it no longer open? Maybe people are trying to recapture that honeymoon from 1973?

The Polynesian Resort is still open. I suspect the value has much more to do with the Disney World connection than being a mug. Anything from that early will do well. Triple collectible as well, Disney, Tiki's/Tiki mugs, and Pottery.

The person that purchased the mug is a Tiki mug collector. I believe the reason for the high value on it, is a combination of it being from Disney, and the fact that it was only available for a limited amount of time from the Polynesian Resort, so rarity plays a part. There are collectors of everything and Tiki Mugs are no exception. Just the regular Disney Polynesian Tiki glasses sell well too. Look- polynesian village tiki glass | eBay

For the record, I really had no idea what they would sell for when I bought them. I just thought they looked different so I bought them. I got lucky.

Love the pair of squirrels! It appears Mrs. D knows her stuff quite well, too!
